How to Enable USB Debugging On Android Devices

USB Debugging Option -Android 5.0 Developer Options

To carryout certain advanced operations on any Android device, you need to have USB Debugging enabled on the Android device. Meanwhile, the steps required to enable USB Debugging option on Android devices vary from device to device and basically dependent on the Android version installed on the device.


Just below here, we provide you with illustrations of how to enable USB Debugging on your Android device and that, regardless of the Android version installed on the device.


To Enable USB Debugging On Android 2.0 to 2.3.X

Go to Settings >> Applications >> Development >> USB Debugging
As seen from the screen, tick or mark the box right in front of USB Debugging option to turn the USB Debugging option on.

To Enable USB Debugging On Android 3.0 to 4.1.X

To enable USB Debugging on Android device with Android OS versions between 3.0 to 4.1.X installed, go to:
Settings >> Developer Options >> USB Debugging
First, swing the Button in front of the Developer Options to mark it ON then, go to USB Debugging and mark or tick it ON.

To Enable USB Debugging On Android 4.2.X and Beyond

It is a little bit tricky to enable USB Debugging option in this version of Android since the Developer Option is hidden. Therefore, to enable USB Debugging, you will have to first enable Developer Options.
In the paragraphs that follow, we illustrate to you, how to enable the hidden Developer Options menu in Android device.


How to Show/Enable Hidden Developer Options In Android

To enable or show hidden Developer Options in Android, go to;

1. Click Menu icon to enter the App Drawer.


2. Go to Settings icon and enter it.


3. Scroll down the Settings option until you see About Phone, About or About Tablet and click it.


4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen until you see "Build Number" field.


5. Tap the Build number field seven times to enable Developer Options. Tap a few times and you'll see a countdown that reads "You are now 3 steps away from being a developer."


6. Once your counts reaches 7 (or sufficient number of times), you should see a message that reads; "You are now a developer!"


7. Now, Developer Options should now be visible within your phone's settings options.


USB Debugging Option -Android 4.0

    You may now enable USB Debugging Option on your device by following the simple steps below.

Now, to enable USB Debugging mode, go to;
Settings >> Developer Options >> USB Debugging. Tap the USB Debugging checkbox and confirm it.

To Enable USB Debugging On Android 5.0 Lollipop

To enable USB Debugging on Android 5.0 Lollipop, first go here to enable Developer Options then, from the device go to;

To enable USB Debugging on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, first go here to enable and show the hidden Developer Options then, from the device go to;
Settings >> Developer Options >> USB Debugging and mark the checkbox to enable USB Debugging on the device.


To Enable USB Debugging On Android 7.0 Noughat

To enable USB Debugging on Android 7.0 Noughat, first go here to show and enable hidden Developer Options then, from the device go to;
Settings >> Developer Options >> USB Debugging and mark the checkbox to enable USB Debugging on the device.
